At an age when most modern American men are entering their first year of high school, my great-great-grandfather, Olavus Vullum Bjornson Vestbo (aka Olaus Wullum Bjornsen Westbo/Vestboe) began what has become an epic journey, traversing half the globe, as a sailor in the Norwegian Merchant Marine.
